The pupils were reminded of the importance of getting appropriate information regarding the subject of sex education. They were taught the basics of sex education with emphasis being laid on the differences between the male and female gender. These differences become more apparent when they attained the age of puberty. The pupils’ attention was drawn into the broad categorization of the body parts into private and public parts, with emphasis laid on the need to protect the private parts by not allowing anyone to see nor touch them. They were equally informed on the need to set healthy boundaries. On no account should they allow anyone to cross a certain boundary with them, especially as it relates to the subject of sex education. The pupils were also encouraged to speak up whenever they faced any form of sexual molestation or abuse. They were told to report to appropriate authorities like their school counsellor, class teacher, head teacher, parents, and guardians. However, if the abuse is coming from either of these ones, they should report the issue to a trusted adult who will be able to bring it to the notice of the state authorities in charge of matters relating to sexual molestation and sexual abuse.
Also, the pupils were taught to uphold the values of love, integrity, self-control, accountability, kindness, diligence, respect, responsibility, obedience et cetera. They were informed that these values would help shape them into responsible individuals. These values are not to be trivialized but should be held with high regard. The present-day society is fast decaying, and the need to instill such values early in the lives of these pupils cannot be over emphasized. The pupils were told to practice these values on a day-to-day basis as this will help them imbibe these values easily.
